In conjunction with Brisbane Open House and World Architecture Day this year we decided to catch up with some of the people who bravely dedicated their lives to make sure Australians never ran out of ice cream in summer.
As the largest ice cream producer in the British empire, Peter’s quickly expanded across Australia and opened its doors on Boundary Street in 1928, offering employment opportunities to hundreds of people for the next 70-odd years.
As you can imagine, there was a lot of taste testing involved and the Peter’s team proudly supplied Brisbane with cakes, ice cream, Eskimo Pies and log rolls until its closure in 1996.
