West Village Precinct’s Central Building Features Neuro-architecture Focus
A Development Application has been lodged for a new 22 storey residential building within Sekisui House Australia’s thriving $1.1 billion-dollar award-winning precinct, West Village.
The result of an extensive design competition process, the winning design was a collaboration by Sekisui House Australia and Sydney based architects, Smart Design Studio, and is aptly named ‘ALTURA’. Scheduled to launch early next year, the building will be the tallest within West Village and includes 156 luxury residences, sky garden, rooftop infinity edge and podium level pools, and resident dining and cinema rooms with a focus on optimizing health, wellness, and environmental consciousness.
The building reflects Sekisui House’s core philosophy that thoughtful design can improve quality of life and wellbeing. The world’s largest homebuilder has a commitment to creating sustainable and authentic living environments while pioneering new innovations that meet the evolving needs of people, communities and the environment.
West Village Project Director, Harrison Phillips, said the proposed new development further reinforced West Village as a precinct where community, lifestyle and health and wellbeing are always at the forefront:
“West Village already provides an unparalleled setting combining heritage, environmental connectivity and wellness,” he said. “We’ve continued to explore these design principles for our latest residences to ensure those feelings of wellbeing can be replicated in a home environment, too."
“We’ve undertaken a lot of research and understand the built environment that people live in has a significant impact neurologically. With this in mind and working with Smart Design Studio, our team has integrated unique design features that focus on sensory perception and neuroscience, evoking positive and calming emotions, providing better sleep, stimulating creative thinking, and overall offering a feeling of enhanced happiness.”
The facade of the building will feature an iconic mosaic design forming a distinctive silhouette and featuring garden balconies. This innovative design responds to a brief where natural light, greenery and privacy were paramount. Four vertical sections are wrapped together in a sculptural form creating unique bay windows and oversized balconies with accessible lush green planting featured throughout. The curvaceous northern and southern exterior walls provide an elegant, timeless vertical expression reinforcing impressive city and mountain views and creating a private sub-tropical sanctuary.
As part of the proposed Development Approval, ‘ALTURA’ will offer eight exclusive ‘Sky Retreats’ on the upper levels with four sizeable bedrooms and exclusive un-interrupted views. Three categories of residential levels will be available including platinum, premium and classic schemes.
ALTURA will be West Villages’ central ‘smart’ tower with an integration of smart home technology features including access, temperature and lighting control. Incorporating extensive sub-tropical, resort inspired landscaping, the building also features a number of environmental initiatives including solar panels and grey water recycling which is a common feature to all the residential buildings of West Village.
Located on Little Jane Lane, residents will have immediate access to innovative health and leisure facilities, several expansive green spaces and parklands, 35 retailers, fresh food markets, and medical facilities.
